ENVIRONMENT DEFENDERS KAYAK PADDLE: JUNE 13TH

Kayak with members of the McHenry County Environmental Defenders on Saturday June 13th at 9:00am. This social paddle is available to all experienced and non experienced paddlers. Explore the North Branch Kishwaukee River from Siems Park in Union, IL to Highway 23 Bridge in Marengo, IL. Bring some friends or meet new friends! This paddling trip is all for good causes! Need a kayak? Paddle On has you covered with rental kayaks available for online booking. Paddle On has single and tandem kayaks available. Have your own vessel? No problem purchase a shuttle ticket, drop off your vessel at Siems Park first then park at Highway 23 bridge, we will pick you up and transport you back to Siems Park. Paddling Start Point: Siems Park in Union, Illinois 16351-16899 Highbridge Rd, Union, IL 60180

Paddling End Point/Vehicle Parking : Highway 23 in Marengo, Illinois 4393-4399 IL-23, Marengo, IL 60152

Course of action: Paddle on will have all rental kayaks staged at Siems Park by 7:30am. Paddlers can drop off their own kayaks, personal gear or extra passengers at Siems Park before 9am first then drive and park their vehicles at the bridge at Highway 23. Paddle On will be on-site at the Highway 23 bridge to transport all paid shuttle tickets back to Siems park to drop in. We anticipate everyone will be paddling by 9:30-10am. Multiple shuttle rides may delay timing.

*Vehicle Drivers can save on shuttling tickets by dropping off extra passengers to Siems Park first. Any questions in shuttling call or text us at 815 762 4009.


What to bring:
Water shoes, plastic bottled water, light snacks, river appropriate clothing, sunglasses, watertight case for electronics and keys (optional)


What is provided with all rented kayaks:
Adult PFD’s, paddles, laminated maps

Recommendations:

If you are to bring your own vessel, you must provide your own life jacket

Early is better for all participants to quickly get on the river. Call or text 815 762 4009 if you have any questions (texting is preferred).

MCHENRY COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY KAYAK PADDLE: JUNE 26TH & July 16th

Kayak with members of the McHenry County Historical Society on Friday June 26th or Thursday July 16th. Explore the North Branch Kishwaukee River from Thorne Rd in Marengo, Illinois to County Line Rd in Garden Prairie, IL. A brief history lesson will be presented by the MCHS to educate you on the river you will be paddling. After the trip, an optional after paddle event will take place at Miles Bar & Grill for a refreshing drink or bite to eat. Enjoy the Kish! Hope to see you there!
